Álvaro Gumucio Li (Cochabamba, 1985), has a bachelor degree in Marketing and Advertising and he mainly works in Cochabamba. He is an independent photographer specialized in fashion and advertising work, though he also does photo-documentaries. He collaborates in the ‘Los Tiempos’ newspaper that is printed in Cochabamba. He is an image finder and an excellent narrator of urban daily life. This time, he presents eight pieces of work that are the result of studio work. Two of the pieces can be considered to be related to fashion: Reina Blanca (the face of a young woman presenting a peculiar hairstyle and ornamental jewelry), and Dosis (that represents a little gold crucifix with precious stones, which poses inside the tongue of a woman, symbolizing the catholic Eucharist). The other six are pieces of ‘laboratory’ work (digitalized) seeking to build new images using the reflect effect and inversion, distortion and other resources with new proposals that get close to surrealism; they are digital manipulations that acquire new meanings.

You are all invited this Friday August 21st at 19:00 for the inauguration of the emergent photography exposition that will be held at the National Art Museum (Museo Nacional de Arte), where I will show my work together with Wara Vargas, Ignacio Prudencio and Mauricio Duarte.
